Dental Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are advanced solutions in dentistry that help improve oral health and function after teeth have been damaged or lost.

These treatments play a crucial role in restoring the function of teeth and the natural beauty of the smile.

By offering a variety of materials and designs, the treatment can be customized to meet the needs of each patient.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a cosmetic dental treatment that involves placing a full outer covering over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their shape, size, and strength.

Crowns are used to protect damaged teeth, enhance the natural functions of the teeth, and improve the appearance of the smile.

Types of Dental Crowns Used

Materials Used in Crown Manufacturing:

Temporary Dental Crowns

These crowns are used as a provisional solution until the permanent crowns are ready.

They are typically made from stainless steel or acrylic.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

These crowns provide a natural-looking appearance that resembles natural teeth and are often used for patients with metal allergies.

Resin Dental Crowns

These crowns offer a cost-effective option while providing aesthetic results.

However, they are less durable and more prone to wear compared to porcelain crowns.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal Dental Crowns

This type combines the benefits of metal and porcelain crowns, featuring a color that matches natural teeth.

It is a preferred choice for those seeking a balance of strength and aesthetics.

Zirconia Dental Crowns

These crowns blend strength and aesthetics, making them an excellent option for crowns requiring both durability and a natural appearance.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are permanent restorations used to replace missing teeth.

They typically consist of two or more crowns, known as “abutments,” that are placed on the adjacent teeth on either side of the gap.

The bridge itself, which fills the space of the missing teeth, is placed between these abutments. This replacement tooth is referred to as the “pontic.”

Types of Dental Bridges

Includes:

Traditional Bridges

Traditional bridges are a type of fixed bridge used to replace missing teeth.

This method involves placing crowns on the adjacent teeth surrounding the gap.

These crowns serve as abutments for the bridge, which restores the missing teeth and enhances both function and appearance.

Implant-Supported Bridges

These bridges use dental implants as support instead of natural teeth.

One or more dental implants are placed into the jawbone to act as supports for the bridge.

The bridge is then fixed onto these implants to replace the missing teeth.

Removable Bridges

Removable bridges consist of artificial teeth attached to a metal or plastic base, which can be taken out of the mouth.

This option is used when there are gaps in the teeth and provides a removable alternative that can be easily cleaned and adjusted.

Removable bridges are less common compared to fixed bridges but offer the advantage of easy removal.

Maryland Bridges

Maryland bridges, also known as resin-bonded bridges, are used to replace missing teeth without the need for full crowns on the adjacent teeth.

This type of bridge is popular because it requires minimal preparation of the neighboring teeth, thus preserving the natural tooth structure as much as possible.

Cantilever Bridges

In cantilever bridges, the bridge is supported by one or a few strong teeth located at one end of the gap, with the other end of the bridge extending into the gap without additional support.

Features of Crown and Bridge Placement at Our Clinic

We have replaced the traditional method of taking dental impressions with an intraoral scanning device and established a fully integrated in-house laboratory for creating dental restorations.

This digital system allows us to quickly transfer measurements to the laboratory, where we design restorations electronically using CAD/CAM software.

Subsequently, we convert these designs into actual restorations with high speed and quality.

Additionally, having an in-house laboratory enables us to maintain complete control over the quality of restorations and make precise adjustments to their shape or color.

Overall, if you are considering any of these options, do not hesitate to visit Dr. Wael Ramadan clinic (ProCare Dental Clinics), where our medical team is committed to providing the highest levels of care and innovation in dental treatment.
